What is the Marché Solidaire Frontenac ?

The Marché Solidaire Frontenac is a social economy enterprise that distinguishes itself by its locally sourced products and its social mission. Here, links are forged between producers and the neighborhood to offer fresh, local food and solidarity pricing.

The Marché Solidaire Frontenac began as a citizens’ initiative in 2007, and became a social economy project a few years later, setting up shop on the Frontenac metro esplanade. Since 2013, Carrefour solidaire CCA operates this seasonal market from May to October.

What is Solidarity Pricing?

Marché Solidaire Frontenac bases its pricing system on principles of social and economic equity. Here, you can choose your price at the checkout according to your means.

Part of the profits are reinvested in the project to improve access to fresh, local food while respecting dignity, autonomy and choice. Solidarity pricing promotes mutual community support and active participation in neighbourhood life.

How does Solidarity Pricing Work?

Two prices are displayed on the labels. Once at the checkout, choose your price from the two totals:

  • Full Price: this price supports this social economy project. Part of the profit is reinvested to subsidize the Solidarity Price, in addition to covering the market’s operating costs.
  • Solidarity Price: this price makes food more accessible when you need it. It is reduced and subsidized.

What’s on the Shelves?

Quebec fruits and vegetables, and much, much more. Come and discover a wide variety of local products:

  • Fresh, local and seasonal fruits and vegetables
  • Local meats
  • Vegan products
  • Dairy products, eggs and cheese
  • Organic flours and legumes
  • Bread and pastries
  • Quebec jams, honey and maple syrup
  • And much more!

We also sell organic seedlings at the beginning of the season (late May/early June).

We Accept Carte Proximité

We are proud to accept the Carte Proximité as a method of payment at Plein Prix.

Simply mention your payment method at checkout. Your Carte Proximité works like any other card to make a transaction. The card is valid to purchase all foods available at the Market.

Market staff can also easily check the amount remaining on your card. Don’t hesitate to ask!
