During the pandemic in 2020-2021, the Carrefour offered local food baskets (fruits and vegetables, eggs OR tofu and dairy OR non-dairy milk) to be picked up at 2349 rue de Rouen. To ensure the affordability of the baskets, not all foods are organic, but there are always a few items that are and everything will be sourced from Quebec – that’s a promise!
Why Paniers Proximité
This program was established to address the seasonal closure of the Marché Solidaire Frontenac. In order to ensure access to fresh food during the winter for neighborhood residents, the Carrefour committed to making weekly baskets of fresh, local and healthy food available for pick-up at our offices.
3 Ways to Get a Basket
- Centre-Sud residents with a Carte Proximité are eligible to receive a free basket each month, depending on their household size.
- Baskets are also available for purchase at an affordable price.
- Residents wanting to support the Carrefour while sourcing fresh, local food can purchase a basket at the Solidarity price. This allows us to subsidize free baskets for those in need.
How Does it Work?
To reserve, simply fill out the form by clicking on the desired pick-up date:
Once you have made your reservation, simply show up at the scheduled time at 2349 rue de Rouen. Our team will be there to welcome you. Bring reusable bags to carry your food!
What’s in the Baskets?
The composition of the baskets cannot be modified except for milk and eggs which can be replaced by non-dairy milk and tofu. The contents also vary from week to week depending on availability. Two formats of basket are available (Small and Large) and we offer two prices per size including a Solidarity price to support the mission of the Carrefour.
