Récoltes Solidaires is our referral and peer advocacy program and includes our Committee for Action and Reflection on Food Autonomy (CARAA). Our team of Peer Helpers lead these activities and are trained to help:
- Refer you to food and social support services that will meet your needs in the Centre-Sud neighbourhood,
- Accompany you to a new service or activity, if you would like some company or a helping hand,
- Generate ideas, discussions and action about food and social issues through the CARAA.
What is a Peer Helper?
A Peer Helper is a person who is or has been themselves food insecure and has demonstrated creativity and resilience to find solutions. Our Peer Helpers are community leaders, but act primarily in a supportive manner. They show up to listen to their neighbours and seek to understand the situations their neighbours are experiencing, without judgment. The Peer Helpers are employees of the Carrefour Solidaire.
