What is a collective kitchen?
A collective kitchen is a small group of people who get together to share the costs, time and skills needed to prepare affordable, healthy and tasty meals. Dishes are divided up, and participants take their portions home. It’s all done in a spirit of fun with a popular education approach.
Carrefour solidaire is a proud membre of the Regroupement des cuisines collectives du Québec (RCCQ)
The Carrefour solidaire supports its collective cooking groups by providing:
- A member of our team responsible for the personalized facilitation of each group
- A menu decided by the participants, according to their interests. Each group cooks three recipes per workshop
- Meeting space in a certified kitchen, as well as professional kitchen equipment and supplies.
- Group meetings at different frequencies: weekly or every two weeks
- Purchase of ingredients for the three recipes cooked per workshop
Participants sign up for a time slot, and agree to be present for the entire session. In the event of absence, participants must inform our team in advance.
Groups operate on a flexible contribution basis. We suggest a contribution of between $3 and $10 per portion, depending on your capacity. The formula can vary from group to group. This contribution helps cover the cost of groceries, facilitation and materials. The Carrefour solidaire commits to covering any costs not covered by contributions.

Several options are available:
- Meal Prep Workshop: cook 3 main dishes to start the week off right! This workshop takes place every two weeks in the kitchen of Les Tours Frontenac (1855 rue Havre).
- Three-course Meal Workshop: cook a complete menu (dessert, side dish, main course). Different times available. Workshops are held every week or every two weeks. These workshops take place in our kitchen at 2375 rue Sainte-Catherine Est.
